When Ford Field opened its doors in 2002, it marked the return of the Lions to downtown Detroit for the first time since 1974.
Built at a cost of $500 million, Ford Field includes a giant, glass wall that reveals the Motor City's skyline and the old Hudson's warehouse, which originally was built in 1920 by Hudson's department store as a seven-level repository for fine linens, furniture and light fixtures.
The impressive facility, on which ground was broken in 1999 and has nearly two-million square feet of space, has already hosted Super Bowl XL in 2006, the 2009 men's basketball Final Four and the 2010 Frozen Four.
